What makes the The Volunteer State a great destination for your next school music trip? For one thing its capital, Nashville, is actually nicknamed “Music City.” And this vibrant city is the de facto center of the country music scene. In addition to hosting the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville is also home to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Other popular Nashville attractions include Ryman Auditorium, Historic RCA Studio B, the Johnny Cash Museum and The Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the world-famous ancient Greek temple in Athens.
A few hours east of Nashville lies Knoxville and the Appalachian Mountains. To let loose and celebrate, school groups may want to visit Dollywood theme park in nearby Pigeon Forge. The town of Gatlinburg is situated at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which offers wilderness exploration and adventure. Meanwhile Memphis, in the far southwest corner of Tennessee, is the location of Elvis Presley’s Graceland and the blues clubs of Beale Street.
