Cultural & Language Immersion Trips to New England

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, a considerable number of French Canadians moved to the New England region. These French-speaking people settled in groups and managed to maintain aspects of their language and culture. While many settled in states sharing a border with Canada, like Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, there are concentrations here and there in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. The town of Woonsocket, RI, in particular had a strong Quebecois presence, which students can experience by visiting the magnificent St. Ann’s Church and touring the Museum of Work and Culture.
