Machu Picchu

Peru Service Learning Trips

One of the most fascinating destinations in South America, Peru posseses an incredible array of archeological sites, historical monuments, natural beauty and opportunities for adventure. With a long dry coastal areas to the west, the lush Amazon forest in the east, and the Andes mountains in between, school groups may be hard pressed to fit it all in. Lake Titicaca in Puno is the highest navigable lake in the world and home to the floating islands of the Uros Indians. The mysterious Nazca lines, very large geoglyphs, can be found in Peru's southern desert. And no trip to Peru would be complete without visiting the majestic Machu Picchu ruins at the end of the Inca trail near historic Cusco. While getting acclimated to the high elevation, students can volunteer in local communities like Misinimay to fulfill the service learning aspect of their school trip.

The Yale University trip was AMAZING!!! There were no hiccups and everyone was extremely kind and respectful! Our bus driver Dale, tour guide Sam, Pierson College staff member Frank and the rest of the team, and Model Congress extraordinaire Melissa were everything we can ask for and then some. Thank you for putting this together and ensuring our day was a smooth as can be! Looking forward to DC and Connecticut.
